The Brighter Side of Sheltering in Place
“During these difficult times..” How many times have you heard that phrase over the last 3 months? No doubt they have been difficult for many of us, but instead of listing the difficulties, I would like to take a moment and list the positives as we are experiencing here at The Guitarist.
We have our health. I am thankful that all of our instructors are healthy and well. We have been checking in with each other as we all teach remotely, and the best report I have received, by far, is that everyone is healthy.
Online lessons are going great! In fact, they are going better than anyone expected. When the shelter in place hit, we didn’t know what to expect. Within 24 hours, we were all in online. The shelter in place forced us to learn a new thing, and learning new things is a good thing! All of our 17 instructors have been teaching remotely and have been reporting that online instruction is going very well. We have found that remote teaching has not diminished our ability to give one-on-one personalized attention to our students.
Students are getting better at playing their instruments! The shelter in place has made weekly lessons more consistent than ever. Consistent weekly lessons - plus consistent practice - has helped our students get substantially better at their instruments. Great job students!
Students have welcomed us into their homes. We feel like you have made us part of the family. We not only know all the members of our student’s family, but we now also know the names of the family pets!
We have great students! The outpouring of encouragement and support during this time has been amazing. When the shelter in place hit, our students hung in there. So much of learning an instrument is just sticking with it. Thanks for sticking with it and for sticking with us!
We are looking forward to seeing our students in person. It won’t be long. We can’t wait to play “live” music together with our students. But even after the shelter in place is over, we now know that on those weeks that we can’t met in person, we can continue to met online. Thanks to the shelter in place, we now have more ways to serve you both online and in person!
